There was, and still is a freeze on residential evictions in Ontario due to COVID-19, but, since we live under capitalism there has to be a catch. The above falls within the parameters of the Residential Tenancies Act, but for tenants who share a kitchen or a bathroom with their landlord, they have no such protection as they can be evicted under the Commercial Tenancies Act.
