Not too Rough

The year 2014 has turned out to be pretty awful for most workers as the living standards of many of them has declined as their wages have not kept up with the rising cost of living. The year has however been a boom one for the capitalist class. The Boat International magazine has reported a wonderful year for the sale of super yachts. '... estimates that, in terms of length, 9,337m of superyachts were sold across the globe in the calendar year to July 2014, up from 6,716m last year, amounting to sales worth some 1.99 billion euros (£1.6 billion), up from 1.39 billion euros.' (Times, 13 October) The report goes on to mention that Roman Abramovich's 163m Eclipse, which caters for 36 guests, requires 92 crew, includes use of a submarine and costs more than $2 million a week to charter. 2014 hasn't been too rough for some!
