Short Unhealthy Lives

Sometimes we read about statistical data that is truly astonishing, but the following findings are hardly in the the astonishing column. 'The rich live 20 years longer in good health than the poor, official figures show. In a sign of Britain's "staggering" health divide, the poorest 10 per cent of the population can expect little more than 50 years of healthy life, the Office for National Statistics said.  (Times, 15 March) Not only are the working class exploited all their lives their health and longevity are affected by capitalism.
