Humanity is suffering

At a time when nations, led by madmen, charlatans and hypocrites, are suffering the blows of greedy profiteers, the Socialist Party is once again making a sincere appeal to all reasonable and practical individuals to try to avoid total destructionof civilisation and to to turn their efforts toward a rational and humane form of social organisation.

By social revolution we mean the abolition of money. By social revolution we also mean the the free availability of the means of production for all. By social revolution we mean power in the hands of everyone through worldwide cooperative associations, ensuring an equitable distribution in the interest of all. In order to best accomplish this task, we are looking for more people to join us in the Socialist Party.

We are at a crossroads of overlapping crises. Humanity is at risk because of the senseless profit-seeking mentality capitalism imposes on us. Capitalism is no longer capable of organising the production and distribution of goods that people need. Its logic of profit and capital accumulation prevents a more just and egalitarian society. The capitalist system is being increasingly shown to be  environmentally unsustainable. Responsible for much of the environmental crisis are large transnational corporations, which do not respect borders, states, governments, or the rights of peoples. Governments  provide protection for the corporations.  The  media serve their corporate masters’  interests.

We live in a world where happiness is fleeting and everything and everybody is disposable. People say the economic and social system is broken, but it isn’t. The system is rigged. It generates increasing wealth for the already rich and powerful at the expense of the majority of the people on this Earth. Billionaires and corporations measure success by their bank balance, or by share prices. Where we see climate breakdown, poverty and injustice — they see nothing but profit. It is the relentless pursuit of profit for the few which is causing the misery of the many, and pushing the planet to the point of no return. Exploitation is the central feature of capitalism.  The only path of escape is for the workers of the world to unite in opposing capitalism and recognise their fundamental unity as a class and wage war on, not with, their exploiters.

Nationalism is used to inspire populations to sacrifice in the interests of their local capitalist rulers. The history of competing interests between various governments, the huge manipulations of events and policies and the disregard for the well-being of ordinary citizens is lost in propaganda and patriotic posturing. Capitalism kills, and war is the most extreme example. Capitalists send working class men and women into battle against one another. Capitalists are willing to spill our blood whether in Ukraine, Yemen, Syria, or in many other conflicts

Capitalism is driving war, climate disaster, disease, poverty and hunger, racism and sexism. Why can’t abundance be shared among all workers equitably? Capitalism, run by the dominant class for their own profit, simply can’t allow it because such a system undermines profits. Why should workers tolerate such chaos? We need to put an end to capitalism, and together we can. Demonstrating in protest marches is not enough. We must create a worker-run society. We must build a whole new model of society, one we run in our interests - a society that maximises the well-being and talents of the people of the world, free of profit, racism, nationalism and sexism.

Restoring Hope

The Socialist Party always attempts to present our ideas in the clearest way possible.

Under capitalism where production is geared for private profit, society’s resources are squandered in many ways. In a profit system, one class lives by exploiting another. The Socialist Party represents the interests of the working class. It doesn’t seek merely an improvement of the conditions of the workers under capitalism, but the abolition of this system of scarcity and insecurity and its replacement by a society of security and plenty for all, an end the exploitation of man by man for all time; to eliminate wars and hunger.

Why does Big Business resist wage increases on the pretext that these will spur inflation. The explanation is simple. The corporations are aiming to defend their blood-stained profits and add billions more they expect to grab from future production. All the talk about the “danger of inflation is designed to conceal this central fact and thereby deceive the workers and deny their wage demands. It should be understood, first of all, that an increase in wages does not necessarily bring about increased prices. It does mean, however, a direct and immediate reduction in the capitalists’ rate of profit. That is why employers stubbornly resist the wage rises for their workers. That is also why the capitalistsfalsely argue that wage increases bring about inflation.

This exploitative system of  capitalism in direct conflict with the interests of the vast majority of the people throughout the world. The wealth of this society was and is created by working people, yet our human labour is expropriated by individual profiteers and by corporate elites who enrich themselves at the expense of those who make the products and deliver services. Working people are exploited when a portion of their human labour is stolen from them by the capitalists for the sake of profits. The relationship of the capitalist class to the working class is inevitably exploitative. This is the essence of class society. We have no common ground, no basis for alliance, no social peace with the ruling class as long as it exists.

We must bring about the end of the present economic and political system that is imposed upon our lives – the system of  capitalism. This system is inherently based on misery and exploitation. It profits a wealthy few at the expense  of working people.  It is a system  controlled by a small number of extremely rich – a ruling class – who use all  major institutions, including the government, to protect their interests and wealth. In a class society, the dominant economic class makes and enforces the rules. Socialism is not just an ideal. It is a workable system where political and economic power is held and used to benefit not just a handful of people, but all people.

Working people exist under a system of wage slavery. In order to survive workers have no choice but to sell their labour power at a price determined by the capitalists. As long as capitalists exist on the profits from the sale of this labour power by vast numbers of working people, these working people will have no freedom. The appropriation, by a small minority to be used for personal gain and profit, of the wealth produced by labour power must be stopped and replaced by new relations to production where the workers own and control the means of production, and their labor is for the good of the vast majority. The capitalist system can only survive by enslaving and exploiting the vast majority of people. We must change the material basis upon which the exploitation and enslavement of people exists

In order to safeguard the wealth they have robbed from us and insure more profits, it is in the interests of the capitalist class to have a divided working class. A working class that is divided is one that is not capable of defending itself or fighting in its own interests. The capitalists have a vast array of tools of oppression to keep the working class divided. They continually promote discord among us to keep us weak, fighting among ourselves, fighting against our fellow workers around the world. The Socialist Party is an organisation that fights for class unity. We see that only with a united working class can an effectively wage class war  against the capitalists. We are not talking about idle declarations of unity meant only to fill the pages of self-satisfied journals. We are talking about unity of action because we recognise that the working class must learn the lessons of the class struggle through experience.

Which Way to Go?

Social classes are not created by the wills of individuals, they are the outcome of prior economic development. The way wealth is organised and distributed between classes—the social relation of production—is dependent on a given stage of social development. The fact that at different times, men have found themselves, slave owner or slave, feudal lord or serf, employer or employee, expresses a definite historic mode of production, independent of the wills of those who participate in it and regardless of their good or bad intent. Different men are born in different social situations, hence unwilled by them. It is the degree of ’economic development corresponding to a given social situation which provides the objective possibilities for individuals having common economic aims, i.e., class aims, to further their interests.  Capitalism produces the will for socialism and the economic conditions for making it effective. Socialism is the only alternative to capitalism and it is this path that the working class must take if they are to achieve their class emancipation. Such is the nature of historic inevitability.

Working people want a political party they can control and call their own; a party that will advance the cause of the workers, and not deceive and degrade them for the benefit of the profiteers. People are turning away in revulsion from the discredited parties. The Socialist  Party is the kind of party they are seeking. The Socialist  Party is as different from the capitalist parties as the day is from the night. Our members are almost all workers. We welcome men and women of all colours, ages and sexual orientations on an equal basis. Join the Socialist Party to build a socialist society in which life on this earth will be a thing of beauty and a thing of joy.

So long as capitalism endures hunger and war will ravage the world. The Socialist Party will abolish the ruinous power and rule of the greedy, the capitalists, over the lives and welfare of the working people. It will reorganise industry and agriculture into a planned economy which will guarantee abundance, freedom and security to all. War and poverty, fear and race hatred will then disappear, and wage slavery will become a relic of the past.

The precondition for a decent life for all is present in the industrial re-organisation of society and by the elimination of the private ownership of the means of production and of profits as the motive force in the production process. A socialist reorganisation of society would establish production for use on the basis of production of abundance, given even the present industrial apparatus, provide for a decent standard of living for all the people.

We can imagine a world in which every person is safe and thriving, and we demand a society that will help us make that world a reality. We refuse to accept anything less.  We seek to create the best conditions for our communities. we also need everyone who backs the ongoing movement for human liberation to organise. Together, we are powerful beyond measure

We Want to Be Free in a Free World

“They who would be free must themselves first strike the blow.” Frederick Douglas

We are not treated as human beings. We want to live. But not as slaves. We refuse to be slaves any longer.  The people themselves should have and should take the right to decide what they want to do. Our country is the planet. It is a vast, fertile, beautiful land abounding in natural resources. There is everything here to supply the wants of the people, to produce abundance and happiness for the people. We want to be equal to everybody else. Nothing more and nothing less. We want political equality, social equality and economic equalityThe socialist fight is for a better world. We shall see the workers give up everything so that their families and children can be free.

All politics is class politics. There is an unceasing war between labour and capital. The exploiters of labour are conscious of their class interests. They are united in the fight against the workers. And they have governmental power on their side.  This is well understood by the rich, and they determine their politics accordingly. It is not fully understood by the great mass of working people. Yet this conflict of capital and labour has been greatly intensified. It is in the interests of the ruling capitalists and their various agents and dupes to conceal this elementary fact of the realities of political life. It is the contrary purpose of the Socialist Party to strip the veil from politics and reveal its true class nature. We show the workers the true face of politics. The capitalists believe in class politics. They are only against class politics for the workers.  Capitalists aren’t against class parties at all. On the contrary, they have, as they have always had, their class parties, which they have consciously developed and maintained to serve their vested interests. Don’t depend on the lying promises of today’s capitalist politicians. The employing class, aided and abetted at every turn by the government at Washington, has been conducting a furious offensive against the workers. Their object is to beat down living standards, and- make the workers pay for the covid and Ukraine. They aim to break up the trade unions.

Today, the madmen who rule are preparing to use their power to plunge humanity into barbarism of endless wars in their insane drive to enslave the world.

Capitalism has kept the people on a merry-go-round of depression, war, inflation and again war. The workers are learning from their own experiences that the capitalist profit system  must be scrapped. But they are disoriented by the lying propaganda of the capitalists that the only alternative to capitalism is nationalisation. In order to keep the people from taking the true road to socialism, the falsehood is spread that it is socialism.

Join the Socialist Party to rid the planet of the plague of capitalism with its wars and recessions. For a socialist society of peace, freedom and plenty support the Socialist Party. We say directly that capitalism, which is the rule of a few people who own everything, is the source of all our fundamental problems. We fight against capitalism and for socialism 365 days a year – year in and year out

The Socialist  Party is unalterably opposed to nationalism. All of you who want peace, join with us. There is only one path to peace and that is to replace the capitalist system of war, poverty, and hunger with a socialist society of peace, plenty and freedom. Join with us to speed the day when peace and not the sword will rule the earth. We ask you to join with us in the struggle for a socialist society, in which at long last you will really find complete freedom from want and true freedom from fear. The peoples of all lands will join with us, to build the world on new foundations. A world in which the age-long dreams of poets and prophets will become a living reality.

Something Is Wrong with the World

Prices have continued to go up higher and higher. There hangs the terrible nightmare of the coming recession. People hoard their money. They do not buy anything new. They watch and wait.  Workers have an uneasy feeling that despite all the claims of great employment, jobs that pay a decent wage are scarce. Capitalist economists vie with one another in predicting the exact date of the coming recession. Wherever there is a conflict the U.S. and the U.K. are embroiled.

The whole social system, economy and politics, have outlived itself. It is rotting from the inside. No one person, no government can remove, or even permanently remedy, unemployment. The problem is an indication of the underlying poverty and insecurity of the whole working-class. That is why everything is wrong and there is no solution in obvious sight. Working people can and will have no peace as long as capitalism exists. The struggle between capital and labour is on a world scale. Capitalism is responsible for poverty. The purpose of this system is to provide the bosses with profit.

Capitalist apologists are never tired of telling us to-day of the blessings and comforts that capitalism has bestowed—but on whom? Capitalists are not concerned with production as such, their concern is primarily with the effective exploitation of the working class for profit. No reform that could be introduced will prevent the present system from proceeding according to the laws of its own development. From the workers’ point of view, capitalism renders all reform futile to solve the main poverty problem. Their conditions worsen faster than palliatives can be introduced and take effect. The very advocacy of reforms presupposes the continuance of the present system whether those reforms are presented as sugar-coated pills or the frothy soundbites. It is the capitalist system itself that enslaves the worker. The remedy is the removal of the cause and no “meantime” patchwork can do that. Only a socialist working-class will ever be able to undertake the removal of capitalism and the establishment of common ownership of the means of life. Such ownership will place the powers and the results of production at the disposal of the whole of society; consequently, leisure and comfort could be available for all if the workers had the knowledge and the desire to bring the change. Until then, through political ignorance, they will continue to keep in existence the present system.

The need is great. It is for a working-class movement, intelligent, organised, and conscious that the means of life may be owned by the people and controlled by them.

We struggle because we must and in the course of that struggle we learn that the root of all social evil is a system which has no other use for the great majority of men and women than to grind profit out of them. It is that system workers must sweep it away, and reconstruct society on a new foundation.

An individual of any standing cannot with impunity set out criticism of a subject such as physics, biology, or chemistry, without the necessary qualifications for the task. Among the defenders of capitalism, this same disqualification does not appear to matter, providing the subject to be criticised is socialism. Wages are the price of labour-power, whether that labour-power is employed by the capitalist state or by a private employer. The working class are compelled to sell that labour-power, their only possession, to a non-producing class that owns society’s means of life, and who consequently can retain much of the product of the workers’ labour. Socialism means the abolition of classes, wage payers, wage receivers, nations, states and tyrannies. It means, in short, a system of society in which the commonly-owned and commonly-controlled means of social living would make such things absurd and unnecessary.

Socialism means a system of society in which goods are produced for the use of the members of society, not for the profit of a privileged class. There will, inside socialism, be no buying and selling, and therefore no need for any currency system. That is socialism and that is what we work for.

The Socialist Party is called Marxist – and we are proud to bear that name. Socialism is a worldwide movement which unites working people of all nationalities, of all colours, in a common world organisation. Full economic, political and social equality can be attained only through mass action. Let the capitalist apologists proclaim the death of socialism. When the workers in any number become acquainted with socialist principles efforts to rebut socialist teachings will be impotent.
