In 2009, the developers Cadillac Fairview (CF), built an open-air shopping centre in Don Mills, Ontario. They also built condo towers that the local residents had opposed at the Ontario Municipal Board.
However, CF promised the residents that
if they dropped their opposition to the two condo towers, they would build a
community centre. This would have a swimming pool, a fitness area, meeting
rooms, gym and an indoor walking track.
Twelve years have gone by, the promise
has not been kept, but should anyone be surprised?
